Bektashi Order of North Macedonia
About
The Bektashi Order of North Macedonia is based at Harabati Baba Teqe in Tetovo and forms part of the worldwide Bektashi community, a Sufi tradition within Islam associated with Haji Bektash Veli. The Bektashi path places particular emphasis on spiritual and ethical formation, devotion to God, and a tradition of openness and coexistence.
The community has been active for many years in interreligious dialogue and advocacy for freedom of religion or belief. Its efforts for legal recognition reached the European Court of Human Rights, and the World Bektashi Headquarters – Bektashi Seat in the Republic of North Macedonia, Harabati Baba Teqe Tetovo is now listed in the country’s official register of religious communities. The community has a longstanding relationship with IARF and hosted an IARF regional conference in Tetovo in 2016.

Arben Sulejmani is President of the Bektashi Community in North Macedonia and its representative at Harabati Baba Teqe in Tetovo.
