Who we are

The International Association for Religious Freedom, IARF, is the first international interfaith organization – a world community uniting diverse traditions of free and liberal religion. Our membership includes organisations and individuals from 5 continents, 23 countries and various religious traditions, including Unitarianism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism and indigenous faiths. We have chapters in nine countries.

Our mission

Our mission is to promote religious freedom and other human rights, advance free and liberal religion and protect religious minorities. We bring together free and liberal religious people and communities across diverse faiths, cultures and languages to form a worldwide community of people who inspire each other and believe that free and liberal religion not only helps in one’s personal spiritual growth but also contributes to a better and more just world.

Through educational programs, advocacy and shared celebrations, we foster interfaith dialogue and advance free and liberal religion. Together we form a treasury of faith and practice. And in unison we share them in dialogue and service.
