The May 2025 issue (No. 50) of the IARF Japan Chapter's Monthly Letter features the Ushiku Daibutsu (Ushiku Amida Daibutsu) in Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Standing 120 meters tall, it was certified in 1995 as the tallest bronze Buddha statue in the world. The newsletter describes the history, features, and gardens of the statue, as well as its appointment as an "Ushiku Goodwill Ambassador" in 2024. It also contrasts this giant representation of Amitabha Buddha with miniature carvings from the Edo period.
