Religion and Conflict Prevention: IARF EME Conference 2016 at a Glance

A short retrospective film from the 2016 conference of IARF’s Europe and Middle East Region, held in Tetovo, North Macedonia, 22–25 August 2016 under the theme “Religion and Conflict Prevention.” Hosted by the Bektashi Community and the Evropa Centre for Human Rights, the gathering brought participants from across Europe and beyond to consider the role of religious communities in preventing violence, addressing discrimination and building interfaith understanding.

The film offers a visual record of the conference, its participants and its setting rather than a conventional lecture. It preserves an important moment in IARF’s engagement with the Balkans and with the Bektashi community, whose own struggle for recognition and religious freedom formed part of the wider context of the event.
