Henry Barnard’s collection of papers on Froebel’s kindergarten and the principles and methods of early education, republished from the American Journal of Education. This is the revised edition of 1890.

The volume covers Froebel and his collaborators, the international spread of kindergarten education, teaching methods, nursery and public-school practice, and the work of churches and charitable institutions. Named contributors include Elizabeth P. Peabody, Maria Kraus-Boelte, R. Heber Newton, Caroline Progler, F. Busse, and D. Batchellor.

Navigation follows the nineteen major divisions and the original index. Several advertised contents-page boundaries precede the actual section heading; targets use the latter where established. The scan has 812 pages and numbered folios through 799, while the publisher’s contents advertises 800 pages. Full leaf-level completeness has not been certified.
