Peter Aaby (born 1944) is a Danish medical anthropologist. He studied anthropology at the University of Copenhagen, participated in IWGIA’s early work, and later developed the Bandim Health Project in Guinea-Bissau.

Edited by Søren Hvalkof and Peter Aaby, the volume features case studies from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Mexico. These studies examine the socio-cultural, economic, and political impacts of evangelical missions, often highlighting tensions between missionary objectives and the rights and autonomy of indigenous groups.
