David M. Robinson is an American literary scholar and professor emeritus at Oregon State University, where he was a distinguished professor of American literature and directed the Center for the Humanities. Educated at Harvard Divinity School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, he has written extensively on Emerson, Thoreau, Transcendentalism, and American religious culture. His books include Apostle of Culture, Emerson and the Conduct of Life, and Natural Life.
