We don't aim to replace formal education but rather to provide resources and opportunities for continuous learning and development throughout life's journey.

Free Religion represents a unique approach to spiritual and religious life - one that values freedom of thought, individual conscience, and the pursuit of truth without dogmatic constraints. It emerged from the recognition that spiritual growth often transcends traditional boundaries and benefits from open dialogue between different traditions and perspectives.

Our educational initiative builds on IARF's 125-year legacy of promoting religious freedom and interfaith understanding. We seek to explore how different liberal religious traditions approach fundamental questions about life, meaning, and human potential.

Programme Coordinator

Prof. George M. Williams

Prof. George M. Williams, a distinguished historian of religions, guides the Free Religion Institute as its Programme Coordinator. His extensive experience in studying religions that liberate, combined with his deep understanding of various religious traditions, provides valuable direction for our educational initiative.

Throughout his career, Prof. Williams has made significant contributions to religious studies, particularly in understanding the Hindu Renaissance, religion in modern Japan, and religion in Hawaii. His work has been recognized with honorary doctorates from Starr King School for the Ministry and the United Protestant Theological School of Cluj, Romania.
