The Free Religion Institute Library is evolving into a comprehensive digital repository for resources on liberal religion, interfaith dialogue, and religious freedom. While we develop this ambitious new platform, we are pleased to share our modest but carefully curated collection with our community.
We are currently developing a custom library module designed specifically for our community's unique needs. This purpose-built system will eventually accommodate diverse media types and enable collaborative knowledge sharing across religious traditions.
Our goal is to create more than just a digital archive – we envision a dynamic platform where members can discover, contribute, and engage with resources that foster understanding between different faith communities.
As we build this new system, we are working to incorporate these key features and organisational principles:
We aim to host documents, videos, audio recordings, and external resources in one unified platform, making it easier to explore different perspectives and traditions.
A five-dimensional taxonomy system will enable powerful searching across location, format, type, content, and access levels – matching different research styles and needs.
We plan to enable members to suggest and submit resources, creating a collaborative knowledge base that grows with our community's interests and expertise.
Sophisticated categorisation and filtering will help users navigate collections efficiently, discover relevant resources, and find unexpected connections across traditions.
We're committed to building an inclusive interface that works seamlessly across devices and meets diverse accessibility needs.
Our structured organisation system will transform the collection into a powerful research tool. Once implemented, this taxonomy will enable:
While our comprehensive digital library is under development, we offer this initial collection of scholarly works. These resources, contributed by Professor George M. Williams and other distinguished authors, provide valuable insights into liberal religious thought and demonstrate the type of content our future library will feature.
As we build this digital library, we welcome suggestions for resources that align with our mission of promoting understanding of liberal religion and interfaith dialogue.

This transformation will take time, but we believe the result will be worth the wait. Stay informed about our progress by subscribing to our newsletter or checking back regularly. Together, we're building a digital library that will serve our community for generations to come.
