About the Author

Kumu Glen Kila was selected from birth to carry on the Hawaiian religion, Kanenuiakea. For his religious training, he was taught the beliefs and values of this centuries-old faith, which were passed down through generations away from public view.

After retiring as a school principal, he re-instituted the 500-year-old traditional Hawaiian Learning Center, Marae Ha'a Koa, to serve as the principal public means for preserving Hawaiian faith and practice. He now devotes his efforts to building community and preserving Hawaiian faith and culture.
