You can find several Books about Transylvania – its history, folklore, religious traditions and tourist attractions – in this small collection: https://kraa1.sytes.net/nextcloud/index.php/s/NAZb4WeRGNtgKbt. I don’t share these books in my capacity as an IARF employee, just privately 🙂 If you know of any other materials that might be worth reading/watching, please let us know!

Has anyone been to Cluj before? Do you have any tips for those who will be there for the first time? About practical matters, sightseeing, dining etc.?

I believe a good example of mission and vision is the following vision and Mission of the Charter for Compassion:
Vision: A transformed world where all life flourishes with compassion.
Mission: We support the emerging global movement of compassion to co-create transformation at all levels, by connecting, cultivating, and encouraging networks of compassionate action.

Thank you, John! When you think about IARF’s vision and mission, what words/concepts/values/principles come to your mind?
For me it would be “freedom in religion”, “liberating potential of religion”, “progressive”, “inclusive”, “network”, “non-dogmatic religion”, “gender equality in religion”, “religion that respects and empowers individuals”, “religion that encourages creativity”, “uniting liberal religions”, “popularsing liberal religious thought/legacy/theology/spirituality”, “religion that acknowledges the right to self-determination, including gender identity”.
It is quite chaotic, I know. Some would fall under “vision”, some under “mission”, and we will certainly have a more structured conversation yet, but these are my associations.
What associations do you have (John and others)?-
All of your associations are also ones I would make. Einstein’s remarks that about simplicity ring true for me – that solutions should be made as simple as possible, but no more – and that there is genius in simplicity. I write this because there could be endless disagreements about what should be included in a vision and mission. I would like to work on whole proposals that encompass as simply as possible what we want to have as vision and mission. I intend to work on developing a proposal when I get back from Chicago in a week. Brainstorming via this medium suits me, because I am able to work through my words before putting them in the discussion, although in person is much more exciting.

I’ve just added a Forum to the community platform. I think it may work a little bit better for longer, more structured conversations than simple comments. Please check it out here: https://iarf.net/forums/

Ha, ha! All this stuff about the uncanny! Anyhow, thanks a lot for the collection. I’ll see if I can bring some copied papers about the history.
